Ashirase enters into strategic haptics-based IP collaboration with Ericsson
Ashirase, Inc. and Ericsson have entered into a patent license agreement for intellectual property (IP) collaboration, something that has been featured in a statement by Ericsson.
The post described a visit by an Ericsson representative to Ashirase’s Tokyo office, where they experienced the shoe-mounted haptic navigation device. Through real-time foot-based feedback, the experience demonstrated the potential of technology to improve accessibility.

Ericsson highlighted its collaboration with Ashirase as an example of how its IP portfolio supports companies addressing real-world challenges. Through this collaboration, Ashirase continues advancing the development and implementation of technologies that enhance accessibility.
Ashirase is a Honda spin-out developing navigation technologies that improve mobility for everyone, beginning with challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. In addition to its vibration-based walking navigation device, the company is building a seamless indoor–outdoor navigation platform designed to enhance mobility experiences across public facilities, offices, and commercial environments.
Ashirase will continue working with partners to accelerate real-world deployment of these technologies and expand freedom of movement.
